Kranjska Gora

The enormous festival in Villach is over, so very few people were in lederhosen this morning, which was something of a relief. It turns out you can have just too much traditional Austrian costume.

We travelled by train and bus to Kranjska Gora, where we have a good view of the range known as the Julian Alps, which we should have walked through if all had gone according to plan. Given the storm, we were right not to have attempted that, even if that had been a possibility.

The Julian Alps behind. The mountains are Razor on the left and Prisank on the right.

But we can see no reason not to walk tomorrow, so we’ll head back in that direction. It will be good to finally get going.
